Collars- How to Measure
DOG, HOUND AND PLAIT COLLARS
Loop a measuring tape around your dogs neck making sure it is not too tight. You should be able to fit one to two fingers between the neck and the collar. Measure at the natural position your dogs collar will sit.
Alternatively measure a current collar from the leather end near the buckle to the hole used- use this as a middle measurement guide when choosing collar size. Every collar has 5 holes.
Plaited leather collars will naturally flatten slightly at the plait section during wear, this will increase the collar length by around 1 cm so please allow for this when measuring.
Please see the listing for each collar for available sizes.
HOUSE COLLARS
House collars are designed to slip over your dogs head and do not have a fastening, so they are measured differently from a standard collar.
To measure, use a soft flexible measuring tape and loop the tape around the widest point of your dogs head, ensuring the tape is not too tight. This is usually the point around the ears and under the chin as shown. The collar needs to be large enough to comfortably slide over this point. This will be the total size of your house collar, including the metal ring. Add this measurement to the size box on the house collar page.
